01, Delhi:Arrive in Delhi to a traditional welcome
of garlands and 'Aarti' and be escorted to your hotel. This peculiar twin city
has withstood aplenty amorous adventures through histronies since times bygone,
yet with an august attitude, it stands aloft to fight or welcome on pouring novelties.
Old Delhi boasts of classical rhythms of ancient Medieval and Mughal repercussions.
New Delhi, the capital is a resplendant repertoire of English galore. Day free
for leisure. Meals and overnight at the hotel.
DAY 02, Delhi:Morning leave for half day city tour.
Visit the 'Sun Dial' the 272 year old astronomical observatory; Rashtrapati Bhawan
- the President's residence; Sansad Bhawan - the coronaded 171m circular Parliament
House; India Gate - 42m tall 'Triumph Archway' for the martyrs of the First World
War. It is also the linkway to Old Delhi to visit the 368 year old Red Fort and
338 year old Jama Masjid, both the meticulous creations of a brilliant architectural
genius - Shahjahan; Qutub Minar, the tallest wonder of Pre Mughal era, the mid
16th century's Humanyun's Tomb, another thrilling finesse of Mughal art. On return
to the hotel, visit a few Emporiums. Afternoon depart for Agra (204 kms.) by car/
coach. Arrive
in 5 hours and check into your hotel. Situated on the banks of Yamuna, this 5000
year old city was immortalized by Shah Jahan's impulsive creation of 'Taj Mahal'
- the startling wonder, after going through excruciating pangs of pains after
the death of his beloved Queen Mumtaz Mahal in 1631. DAY
03, AGRA:Morning City Tour: Visit
Agra Fort - built by Akbar in 1565 and renovated later by Jehangir and Shah Jahan;
Itmad-ud-Daulah's Tomb built by Noor Jehan (Jahangir's Queen) in 1622, the prime
Indian monument with Persian mosaic inlay. Taj Mahal - the most extravagant example
of pure love unmatched anywhere in the world. Built by 20,000 artisans invited
from all over the world, who worked 24 hrs/day for 12 years, conveys beyond any
doubt the message of unity and integrity possible only through mutual love and
respect. Visit the bazaars studded with intricate handicrafts produced by traditional
craftsmen. Afternoon, depart by car/coach for Fatehpur Sikri. Arrive
in 50 minutes in Emperor Akbar's 427 year old 2nd capital which still stands untampered
even by the irrational changing times. It is a wonder as the fort highlights specifically,
features of Akbar's personality - as a loving father, a devoted husband and a
noble monarch. It was here that Jehangir (Salim) was born after Akbar walked to
receive blessings from Saint Salim Chisti at Ajmer. His glorious Din-i-Elahi,
which synthesised the elements of all religions satiated the Emperor and blessed
the Empire with distinctive 9 Ratans (treasures). Among these were Tansen, Birbal,
Todarmal, Abul Fazal. Later depart for Jaipur, 197 kms away. JAIPUR:
Arrive in Jaipur in 4 hrs and check into the hotel. Garlanded with Aravali
Hills, this colorful capital of Rajasthan takes its name after Raja Jai Singh
II. In 1727, he founded the city on the basis of 'Shilpa Shastra' (ancient Hindu
architectural treatise). Accordingly the city is divided into 7 rectangular blocks,
each guarded by a gate and fortified by crenelated walls. Dinner and overnight
at hotel.
DAY 04, JAIPUR - AMER FORT ON

Morning excursion to Amer Fort, popular forts showing Rajputana architecture
and its 17th century air-conditioning system. Enjoy ornament jingling Elephant
Ride from the foothills to the Fort's gate terminating in Maharaja style. Afternoon
city tour : Visit Jantar Mantar 'Princely Dial' observatory. Hawa Mahal (Windy
Palace) built by Raja Pratap Singh in 1799. City Palace and Museum - occupying
1/7th of the city's land - a fastidious representation of blending Mughal and
traditional art. Evening free to visit the colorful bazaars full with handicraft
jewelry, carpets, clothes and various other items. Meals and overnight at thehotel.
DAY 05, JAIPUR - MUKUNDGARH FORT:
Morning depart by car/ coach to Mukundgarh 150 kms away to be covered
in 4 hours drive. Mukundgarh Fort is situated in the Shekhawati district of Rajasthan
desert. This 240 year old fort untouched by the torments of times, offers sensational
traditional hospitality, awakening majestic desires. Internationally known for
its painted Havelis (Homes of rich traders). Afternoon enjoy a 'Walking Tour'
visiting rich Havelis - each a fantasy. A colossal archway carved with Lord Krishna
playing his flute amongst his dainty cows, leads you to the age old bazaars where
even today cobblers, bangle makers are to be seen in their traditional craftsmanship.
Dinner is in the open courtyard, welcoming you with twinkling stars in the company
of a beaming moon laid over shimmering tables. The sensations rise with the soft
jingling train of folk dancers following a Fire Dancers burstlng with life. Spend
overnight in typical Maharaja style in the Palace. DAY
6, MUKUNDGARH DESERT ADVENTURE:
Morning take a camel for an
hour, going through the bazaars and your destination will be Mukundgarh sand dunes
overlooking a wild desert landscape traversed by camels and inhabited by peacocks.
It will be a fascinating experience riding a camel in real desert. If you are
scared of riding a camel, then take a Maharaja style Camel Buggy. Afternoon pack
up and depart for Delhi to arrive in about 6 hrs. Drive and check into the Hotel
for dinner and overnight. DAY 07, DELHI:
Morning at leisure, check out from the Hotel at 12 noon and be escorted
to the airport for the onward flight. |
