SIKKIM AND DARJEELING REGION
All praise be to the twin regions of eastern Himalayas
for their beauty and wonderment. Earlier known as 'Shangri-La'

remote and far, its population was sparse but it was abundantly
gifted by nature in variety of flora and fauna. There for

on after the Tibetan migration into Sikkim and the Lepchas
withdrew to the remoteness of 'Dzongu'. Its capital Gangtok
is on the ridge of Ranipul River. It affords wonderful view
of Kanchenjunga (8586 metres) and the peaks of Singli Ridge-
which is between Nepal and Sikkim.
Rumtek the best monastery of Gyalpa Karmapa (Tibetan Buddhism)
is found here. Sikkim provides most eloquent of Tibetan
handicrafts and artifacts and 'Tankas '(religious Buddhist
paintings). It also provides the view of the royal rising
of morning sun from Tiger Hill Snowy mornings of Sikkim
awakes with the ringing of the manein the strewn monasteries
